Hints for a better portrait |

|
1. Decide on the appropriate look. Do you want a traditional, businesslike pose, or a playful candid shot? 2. Get the best foundation image possible. It takes a lot of time and effort to fix problem images. 3. Try shooting a casual portrait. You model will often feel more at ease, and you will get better results. 4. Find a location free of busy details and without drastic contrast changes. 5. Avoid shooting in direct sun. You can end up with dark shadows in the eyes, or even worse squinted shut. 6. Use a reflector. This tool allows you to bounce light from the sky into the shadows. 7. Dress down. Ask the model to wear something simple. 8. Watch the angle of the head and shoulders.
